Greetings from the President

Since its founding in 1881, Tuskegee University has been a place for students of promise.

Tuskegee University’s strategic plan, “Embracing the Legacy and Transforming the Future,” speaks to the university’s core values of servant leadership, generosity, excellence, integrity and responsibility while also incorporating the voices, perspectives and ideas of the Tuskegee family.

The vision outlined in the plan allows the university to continue its efforts in providing academic excellence, opportunities for spiritual growth and a strong sense of community that is well known among the Golden Tiger family. The intellectual rigor and critical skills offered to students through classroom instruction and hands-on learning experiences at Tuskegee celebrates the rich chorus of diverse voices preparing the next generation of leaders. For nearly two centuries, a bold and daring confidence resided in individual potential that presents itself anew with each graduating class. Today, if you encounter a Tuskegee graduate, whether decades your junior or senior, you encounter a kindred spirit.

As challenges arise, we opt to face them with transformative solutions rather than easy alternatives. We embrace the promise of change rather than settling for the comfort of the status quo. In every endeavor we demonstrate the same confidence in the future that a small group of idealists did over 140 years ago. The phrase “Embracing the Legacy and Transforming the Future” embodies that very notion. This is our chance to fulfill the promise of Mother Tuskegee and to renew our dedication to those that follow.

“As we reflect on the rich history and tradition of Tuskegee, we acknowledge that our success relies heavily on the support of generous donors: corporations, foundations and friends who support the university’s mission and contribute annually.”
